I’ve always thought of photography as a form of painting—only instead of a brush, I work with light. I let the light shape my subjects in a way that complements the story I want to tell. If light is my brush, then my natural light studio is the best canvas I could ask for—a blank canvas in the truest sense. Tucked away near Scott’s Addition, it’s a space I’m deeply grateful for—a place to create whatever my heart imagines.
I love watching the light move through the studio, shifting slowly from morning to evening and from winter to summer. It softens a corner or stretches across the floor, making something new out of a space I know so well. Even in a spot I’ve worked in a hundred times, I’m continually finding beauty. There’s something about the simplicity of this space—and all the possibility it holds.
As much as I love the studio, it’s my incredible clients who give it meaning. Before I even pick up the camera, my focus is on the person in front of me, noticing the energy they arrive with and helping them feel settled and grounded before we begin creating together. I may be the one holding the camera, but the artwork we create requires true give and take, a collaborative relationship built on trust and communication. This studio holds so much room for possibility and creativity, but my clients bring something to it that the light alone never could.
